About the Album
In turns, heart-breaking and hilarious. The whole record feels like this – uplifting and downbeat, inspiringly wounded, etc. etc. Whereas Kyle’s first record, Open Ground (Polyvinyl), was pastoral, this one is more urbane. There are Bruce Hornsby-inflected piano breakdowns, exploding guitar amplifiers, mondo beats. At one point a drummer appears to trip over the kit in the middle of a song.
Endless eons in the making, but well worth any wait. A shimmering, stunning, sometimes stupefying aural experience.
The first in a series of cinematic albums
by Seb Leon and Kyle Fischer from their
sound installation work in New York City.
