About the Album

With a gritty immediacy and a been-there voice, this songwriter continues to grow in his craft. Beauty and Undertow is collection of songs about love, sadness, hope, and the process of letting go. Chris McFarland takes his style of simple storytelling and arcs it with infectious melody and approachable honesty. A perfect illustration of the power of song.

About Chris McFarland

End Up welcomes native Texan and longtime friend Chris McFarland to our roster.

His melodious ceremonial self-eviscerations (often lasting up to a full hour!) have captivated heartsick audiences for more than ten years. Born indie, a native of the Austin area, friend of humanity and the animals . . . Few know his 20 years as a vegan have been fueled primarily by a latent hostility toward all forms of vegetable. He takes it out on his late-model Martin acoustic guitar, worn to rival Willie’s in just a few short years of playing.

Chris has shared stages with Bright Eyes, Grandaddy, Rebecca Gates (of The Spinanes), Britt Daniel (of Spoon), Ted Leo, The Dirty Three, Mates of State, Rainer Maria, Neko Case, Denali and David Dondero, just to name a few.
